TravisMathew opens at Shops at Wailea

TravisMathew, a men’s clothing and golf apparel store, has opened its first location in South Maui at The Shops at Wailea.

In addition to offering T-shirts, shorts, button-ups and golf polos, the 1,965-square-foot shop will also feature old-school arcade games and a glass ping pong table, as well as two televisions for customers to watch sporting events while they shop.

“TravisMathew brings a new dynamic to The Shops at Wailea,” Diana Whitt, general manager and vice president property manager of The Shops at Wailea, said in a news release last month. “This brand brings so much for men’s apparel and the entire shopping experience. We believe it will be a real hit with our target customers.”

TravisMathew is located in the shops near Quiksilver and in place of what used to be The Walking Company. The store is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Sunday.

“We couldn’t be more pleased to open a new store in Hawaii,” said TravisMathew CEO Ryan Ellis. “Not only will we offer our full collection of products — from golf to lifestyle and vacation apparel, but the store will also exclusively carry the Hawaii state capsule products from our Destinations Collection.”

Kihei Caffe opens fresh Lahaina spot

Kihei Caffe recently added a location in West Maui, offering original menu favorites like loco moco, pork fried rice, banana macadamia nut pancakes and more.

Located at the Lahaina Gateway in the same lot as Moku Roots, Teddy’s Bigger Burgers, Island Cream Co., Foodland Farms and others, Kihei Caffe Lahaina will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

The Lahaina Gateway location marks the first expansion for the 4,374-square-foot restaurant, which opened its doors in 1998 and has been named “Best Breakfast on Maui” for 10 consecutive years by MauiTime.

“We are excited to welcome a landmark Maui eatery to Lahaina Gateway,” said Diana Whitt, general manager and vice president property management. “The addition of Kihei Caffe Lahaina is part of our ongoing revitalization of Lahaina Gateway, and we are proud to continue expanding our dining offerings with this long-standing Maui local resident and visitor favorite.”

Andaz Maui’s ‘Ilikai Villas are completed

The ‘Ilikai Villas at the Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort, which comprises 18 three-bedroom villas and one penthouse villa, have been completed, WCIT Architecture announced.

The first guests were welcomed in May, and the property is prepared for a “busy summer season,” according to a news release last month. Villas are available as single units or as adjoining units on each floor for larger groups and families.

“It was a unique experience to design under the challenges that the pandemic presented to us — from having to do a virtual mock-up room to dealing with material and shipping delays — but ultimately we are proud of what we were able to deliver,” said Larry Cunha, senior vice president at WCIT.

The design was inspired by the ‘elepaio (native flycatcher considered to be an incarnation of the goddess Lea, of which Wailea is named after), ‘uala (sweet potato cultivated in the midlands of the ahupua’a of Paeahu) and the rock forms found at Mokapu Beach, fronting the Andaz.

Each 2,000-square-foot villa includes a large open living room, bedrooms, dining area and a kitchen with ocean views. The three-bedroom penthouse villa is 4,400 square feet.

At the top level sits a glass-bottom pool, large barbecue area and outdoor fire pit.

Reservations can be booked through www.andazmaui.com or by phone at 573-1234.

Kahului branch new for Finance Factors

Finance Factors, Hawaii’s largest depository financial services loan company, and its sister company Finance Insurance, opened a newly renovated Kahului Branch and business office last week.

The new Finance Factors Kahului Center, located at 27 S. Puunene Ave., serves the customers of the previous branch and business office located nearby at 140 Hoohana Street.

“In these challenging times, we’re even more committed to providing exceptional customer experiences in all of our branches throughout Hawaii,” said Rob Nelson, president of Finance Factors. “We have been serving the Maui community for over 60 years and thanks to our knowledgeable and friendly branch employees, we continue to provide high-touch service with enhanced health and safety procedures.”

Finance Factors’ new Kahului Branch will continue to offer all of Finance Factors’ products, including savings accounts, certificates of deposit and mortgage loans. Finance Insurance continues to offer life, health, property and casualty insurance products.

Construction on the center, which was purchased by Finance Factors in October 2016, started in 2019. The original bank vault that was on the property was preserved and remains a feature of the branch design. There’s still room for another tenant at the new center.
